One Rebuilder Supporting Another

It’s been a rewarding and productive summer for us at Schrader and Company as we began our “Rebuilding a Better Tomorrow” initiative. We have so enjoyed partnering with some of the best philanthropic foundations in the capital region to raise funds and awareness for their causes and learn more about how we can all come together to strengthen our community.

rebuildWe have another event coming up in October, and this one, for obvious reasons, is especially close to our hearts.

Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, founded in 2003, is the local branch of the National Rebuilding Together organization, which renovates and revitalizes homes for low-income families across America. Founders Michelle and Dan Larkin and a staff of committed volunteers have helped bring hope and renewed pride to the owners of over 500 homes in Saratoga County.

As their website explains, Rebuilding Together Saratoga County provides the following invaluable services to our neighbors in need:

  • Home Repair provides critical repairs for low-income homeowners, including weatherizing, making plumbing and electrical repairs, patching and painting, cleaning, re-carpeting, siding, and landscaping.
  • Safe at Home provides home safety assessments and safety and accessibility modifications for low-income homeowners who are older adults or are living with a disability.
  • Nonprofit Facility/Community Beautification provides safe and welcoming spaces for communities to gather through renovation and beautification work for community centers, supportive housing  facilities and outdoor community spaces.

We will be joining Rebuilding Together Saratoga County for their Annual Fundraising dinner on October 13th at the Hall of Springs. Our donated item for their auction is another fantastic private chef dinner in our showroom. The featured chef for this package is Rick Sleeper of The Cock N Bull Restaurant in Galway, a capital region institution. The lucky winner of the auction item will be treated to an intimate, exclusive dining experience for ten, and complimentary concierge service to coordinate the details.

A Successful Sail at The Saratoga Hospital Foundation’s 34th Summer Gala

The Saratoga Hospital Foundation can certainly call last Wednesday’s summer gala a success. Over 1,000 guests set a new attendance record and raised $306,500 for the Saratoga Community Health Center.

The theme of this year’s 34th annual event was “Set Sail”, and the decor and details were thoughtfully planned to create a bright, nautical atmosphere.

There was an abundance of auction items, both silent and live, and a professional auctioneer working at a fast clip to set pulses racing and paddles raising.

We are thrilled that our donated live auction item, a private dinner for ten at our showroom with Chef Kim Klopstock and complimentary concierge service to coordinate party details, went for $4,000.00. This money, along with the other proceeds raised at the gala, will go directly towards Saratoga Hospital’s Community Health Center, and enable them to continue providing excellent health, dental and behavioral care to Saratoga county’s underinsured population.

With each event we attend and each organization we support as part of our “Rebuilding a Better Tomorrow Initiative”, we become more aware of the importance of fostering a sense of fellowship in our great capital region.

It is truly inspiring to see so many hard-working people among us, championing worthy causes and creating positive change in our communities. We are enjoying being a part of this philanthropic movement, and hope you are enjoying following along with us.

Featuring Chef Kim Klopstock – Saratoga Hospital’s Summer Gala

Both businesses deliver delicious cuisine using only the finest and freshest ingredients from local and regional farmers and vendors. A Look at the Saratoga Hospital Foundation

logo-saratoga_hospitalA great hospital is a cornerstone of any community, and we in the capital region are fortunate to have many options for excellent medical care. Chief among them is Saratoga Hospital, and we will be showing them our support on August 3rd at their 34th Annual Summer Gala.

The Saratoga Hospital Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the hospital and helps bring attention to many areas of need, from nursing scholarships to fundraising for better ICUs and operating rooms.

The goal of this year’s summer gala is to raise funds for the Saratoga Community Health Center, which serves the underinsured population in our area. Last year’s gala netted a record $406,000 for the Community Health Center, enabling them to do some truly wonderful work for the deserving patients of Saratoga County.

Set Sail 4th logoThe Community Health Center offers primary care, dental care, and behavioral health services. They provide everything from prescription coverage assistance to insurance navigation, to a community garden and food pantry. They offer classes to help people better manage chronic conditions and provide resources for healthier lifestyle choices.

We are hopeful that this year’s gala will once again yield record returns and ensure that the Community Health Center can continue their important and far-reaching work. To that end, we have donated a prize for the live auction that we know will entice bidders to raise their paddles. The winner will be treated to a private dinner for ten at the Schrader and Company showroom featuring the talents of Kim Klopstock of Lily and the Rose gourmet catering company and Fifty South Restaurant in Ballston Spa.

Access to affordable, quality healthcare is something that many of us take for granted, but too few enjoy. The Saratoga Hospital Foundation is there to remind us that many of our neighbors still need our help, and we look forward to doing our part on August 3rd to raise awareness and much-needed funds for this worthy cause.

Supporting Saratoga Hospital Foundation

Fresh off the success and good feeling of Saratoga Bridges “White Party” fundraiser, we are getting ready to throw our support to another worthy community organization as part of our “Rebuilding a Better Tomorrow” initiative. Now it’s time to shine a light on the Saratoga Hospital Foundation at their 34th Annual Summer Gala.

Set Sail 4th logoOn August 3, we will gather at the Saratoga Casino Hotel to help raise funds for this local hospital, which services the greater Saratoga County population with top of the line medical care and a broad spectrum of healthcare services.

For this event, we have donated another wonderful culinary experience prize package for the live auction. The highest bidder will be treated to a private dinner for ten at the Schrader and Company showroom, with full concierge service to coordinate details and transportation for the evening. The chef whose talents will be on full display for the winner and guests to enjoy is Kim Klopstock of Lily and the Rose, a farm to table gourmet catering company based in Saratoga, as well as Fifty South, a “farm to fork” restaurant in Ballston Spa.

All proceeds from our donated live auction item will support the programs and services of Saratoga Community Health Center: Improving the Lives of Our Underinsured Neighbors.

As their website explains, “Saratoga Community Health Center is the only facility of its kind in the Saratoga region—a place where those who are underinsured can receive high-quality, affordable primary care, dental, and behavioral health services. For many patients, their connection with the Community Health Center is their first experience with the routine healthcare that can make a dramatic difference in quality of life.”

We are pleased to lend our assistance to this worthy cause and vital part of our community, and look forward to a wonderful evening of celebration and charitable giving.

A wonderful evening of philanthropy and celebration

It was a night of delicious food, congenial company, music, fireworks, and most importantly, philanthropy at Saratoga Bridges “The White Party” this past Saturday evening.

Held at the gorgeous Saratoga Polo Association, this year’s fundraiser took place in perfect weather, and the details of the event matched the setting. From the cocktail hour and silent and live auctions (announced by bugle, of course), to the excellent food and great band, and the finale of fireworks over the polo field, it was an evening to celebrate and support Saratoga Bridges and the important work they do in our community to enrich the lives of our disabled friends and neighbors.

We are so pleased to share with you that our live auction item of a dinner and wine paring for ten at the Schrader and Company showroom prepared by The Lake Placid Lodge’s Executive Chef Mark Hannon and complimentary concierge service went for $3,000.00, with all proceeds going to support Saratoga Bridges.

We are thrilled that our contribution is going to benefit such a worthy cause, and help Saratoga Bridges continue the good works they have been doing in the capital region for over 55 years.

While the fortunate highest bidder has already claimed the grand prize, there is still an opportunity for you to win a $200 gift certificate to Chef Hannon’s restaurant at The Lake Placid Lodge, the most exclusive resort in the Adirondacks. You can enter by signing up here. We’ll select the winner at the end of the month.

Our participation in “The White Party” is just one part of our “Rebuilding a Better Tomorrow” initiative, in which we are donating auction items to support some of the best charitable foundations in our greater capital region. The next event coming up will be in support of Saratoga Hospital on August 3, 2016.

Stay tuned for more information on that and our other upcoming events!

A Deeper Look Into Saratoga Bridges

The Saratoga Bridges “White Party” gala is coming up soon, and as excitement builds and final details fall into place, we wanted to tell you a bit more about this wonderful local organization and why we are committed to supporting them.

Saratoga Bridges was founded in 1954 by a group of parents in our capital region who were committed to advocating for their developmentally disabled children. They knew that with the right resources, support, and education, every child could lead a meaningful life and play an important role in our society. Today, they are one of the largest nonprofits in Saratoga County, servicing over 800 families. They provide healthcare assistance, social and recreational opportunities, vocational training, education, legislative advocacy and a spectrum of housing options for residents. They also play a pivotal role in increasing public awareness for the developmentally disabled.

We are proud to donate our auction item of a chef-selected dinner and wine paring for ten at the Schrader and Company showroom, with the dinner to be prepared by The Lake Placid Lodge’s Executive Chef Mark Hannon.
