Enjoying the outdoors

This custom-designed sunporch and screened porch renovation in the Greater Saratoga, NY area was created to enhance outdoor living while improving durability, comfort, and architectural detail.

To ensure a strong foundation for the finished design, treated wood blocking was carefully installed on the sunporch. This preparation allowed for the installation of a picture-framed border at the screened porch and stair landing, creating a clean, finished edge that visually defines the decking area while adding a custom design element.

The porch flooring features Trex® Transcend® composite decking, a premium material known for its durability, weather resistance, and long-lasting color. This low-maintenance decking solution is ideal for outdoor living spaces in Upstate New York, providing the warmth and look of wood without the ongoing upkeep of traditional materials.

To protect the space and complement the home’s architecture, we installed a 24-gauge metal roof system over the porch addition. Metal roofing offers exceptional longevity, excellent performance in harsh weather conditions, and a crisp architectural profile that enhances the overall design.

The addition’s overhangs were finished with carefully selected trim components that balance durability with a clean aesthetic. Vented Hardie Soffit Board  to promote airflow and protect the roof structure. PVC fascia with PVC rake molding for a crisp, low-maintenance finish that resists moisture and seasonal expansion

These trim details provide both functional ventilation and a polished architectural appearance.

Safety and style come together with the installation of TREX® Signature® railing systems at the exterior stair landing and along the stairs. The railings feature square balusters with a sleek black finish that creates contrast against the lighter exterior materials. 

To complete the porch transformation, ScreenEze® system components were installed across eleven screened openings. The system creates a clean, tight finish that allows for airflow while keeping insects out.

An Oasis Designed for Gathering

Our homes are often a reflection of our values, and how we hope to spend our time. For clients who love to entertain and host large gatherings filled with food, friends, and fun in the sun, this Project Spotlight will serve as a major inspiration.

Our clients wanted their home to be an oasis for hosting friends and family. That meant upgrades to the kitchen and dining room, to improve functionality for both cooking and entertaining. The large island, top of the range appliances, and bountiful storage provided by our custom cabinetry make it a dream kitchen to work in, alone or with many sous chefs at hand. The coffered ceilings in the dining room create a classic look with an open and inviting feel. The additional cabinetry and countertop match the selections in the kitchen, and provide storage and workspace, as well as a cohesive aesthetic.

We also transformed a screened-in porch into a three season room, making it suitable for additional months of use throughout the year. The views of the picturesque property through the new windows and the wet bar make it an ideal spot to hang out and relax with guests.

The clients’ outdoor property is truly enhanced by the new decking and sleek modern railings, which will stand up to tough upstate weather conditions. To maximize their enjoyment of their beautiful pool, we constructed a free-standing building with room for changing in and out of swimsuits, and storing pool supplies. Our clients worked with Brookside Nursery for their elegant landscaping and patio enhancements, and a local pool company to complete the upgrades to their outdoor space.

This new outdoor space is more than welcoming to guests who come to visit, it’s become a true extension of the home. Designed for both entertaining and everyday enjoyment, the family often starts their mornings here, sipping coffee in the fresh air while getting lost in their latest favorite book. It’s a peaceful retreat that effortlessly balances connection and quiet moments, making it just as perfect for lively gatherings as it is for slow, unhurried mornings.

This covered entry was thoughtfully designed to provide protection from the elements, offering a welcoming place to pause and gather while sheltering guests from rain or snow before entering the home. The adjoining deck and stairs are constructed from long-lasting, low-maintenance Trex® decking, chosen for its durability, safety, and ability to maintain its beauty through all seasons. To extend the usability of the space even further, ceiling-mounted heaters were seamlessly integrated into the design, allowing the family to comfortably enjoy the outdoor area well into the colder months. The result is a functional yet inviting entry that blends practicality with year-round comfort.
